just after 7:00 this morning, the neighborhoods were rocked by an explosion at the east bay facility. >> the whole house was shaking and it just kept going boom, boom, they were booming noises. >> we saw flames 50 feet in the air and we got the dogs in the car and just got out of here because we thought our house was going to burn down. it was really scary. >> reporter: fire crews could not put the fire out until they knew the cut had been made to the burn area. >> you can see the switch box was mostly destroyed and damage to the surrounding parts including the gate was destroyed. >> reporter: they do not know what caused the blaze but they add it was clearly some kind of mechanical failure. >> when employees showed up they tried to transfer power

onto the pg&e. system. >> reporter: fire crews had the fire out in less than an hour. and another fire in walnut creek caused a problem in the shopping district. it happened this afternoon and it prompted the evacuation of other stores in that area. the two-alarm fire closed down locust street to cars for part of the afternoon and fortunately nobody was injured. a google executive said he had been snatched and held in captivity by the egyptian government for helping to organize protests there. live outside goingel headquarters, he has not been quiet since his release. >> reporter: far from it and

right after that, the google executive resumed his protest. >> reporter: he did his first on camera interview just moments after being released from captivity in 12 days. he expressed condolences to families who were killed during the uprising and asked not to treat him as a hero and he stated the real heros were on the ground demonstrating. for the first time in two weeks his family can go online without worrying about his safety. they showed a video someone resembling him was rejoining protesters right away. >> he went to the square to protest because that is what he is good for and he is really

claim their innocence in court. it was a five hour hearing where they pled not guilty to charges of spying. she pled not guilty and the family said they hope this case can be resolved quickly and that their sons can fine lip come home after 18 months. they say they will hold at least one more hearing. the post has agreed to a deal worth $315 million. they will run the contempt such as map quest and patch.com. the opposition comes as aol is trying to boost online sales and trying to put them back on the map. the deal is expected to be finalized by the end of the year. they must have noticed in

reporting live k tv u channel 2 news. a report from the congressional office shows income taxes will fall to their lowest levels since 1950. federal taxes will equal 14% of the gross domestic product. the report blames the poor economy high unemployment and new tax breaks for all income levels. they kicked off on a high note. merger news and possible earnings sent stocks higher to it's highest level since 2008. the dow jones industrial average gained 16.5 points and the nasdaq was up more than 14 points. against the death penalty inspecting the new death chamber coming up live.

. a small group of protesters marched in san quentin prison and they want governor brown to abolish the death penalty. it means if ten were executed each year it would take 70 years to execute all of the current death row inmates. they are tour the new death chamber to see if they should be resumed and one person says it is about time. his daughter was murdered and today he told us in no uncertain terms -- uncertain terms how he feels about executions. >> reporter: we are at the west

3500 feet and cool air will move close to us. temperatures will drop off and instead of 73 he we are looking -- 73, we are looking at temperatures like 72. no fog, not a lot of you know temperatures in the 60s but we'll see mostly upper 50s and lower 60s in the santa rosa plain. things will start to warm up as we go through time. it shoots right down here and it goes right there. that is a lot of cold air. most of that cold air goes out in the gray basin. out beyond the dateline, as we move into the next weekend and beyond temperatures will start to drop and rain will get back in your forecast fortunately and i will talk more about that because we needed the rain. when we get back we will have

been killed in the fight and another 50 roofers had been injured. they are investigating the death of a man after he was stabbed in the lower leg by a raiser attached to a rooster's leg. they have not yet determined if a delay in seeking medical care is what contributed to his death. we have the cup but what if the bay area has the world's fair. up next some say it is the perfect location for the fair and what it could bring as far as jobs and money. take a look at this line, parents camping out at a school and what they wanted to get that had them camping out for days.

. she plans to quit her post as congresswoman thinks she is in talks to head up the think tank for the international center for scholars. when she begins governor brown will replace her and that election will likely be held until june. bring a world's fair to the bay area and it could mean big money for this region.

worked to gather evidence on this property. three young men came into his home at 9:00 last night tied him up and assaulted him. >> they managed to get the pass code to the safe where they stole multiple guns from the victim's safe as well as the victim's pickup truck. >> reporter: that truck was found burned in santa cruise county. this man spoke with the victim. >> he thought his jaw was broken and he was beat up. >> reporter: it is not far from the highway 101 exit. the man is well off, got divorced and talked about his extense sufficient gun collection of 75 -- extensive gun collection of 75 guns. they are trying to figure out how many against guns were taken -- how many guns were

taken. >> somebody has to know he had a gun collection. >> reporter: they are trying to determine if the victim knows the suspect and i checked with sheriff's department, they say he is being treated for cuts and bruises. police in oakland trying to find two men suspected of kidnapping a woman from an apartment complex. they chased her on eileen street at 8:20 is saturday night. they eassaulted -- they assaulted her. she is doing okay. the family of a young woman was seriously injured and is now offering a reward in the case. the vehicle that hit her was a gray suv and would likely have front end damage. this happened yesterday around

2:30 behind chuck "e" cheese. she suffered serious injuries and her family is putting up $2,000 for information leading up to an arrest. today's fire in san francisco is not arson. the two-alarm fire was just up the hill from four suspected arsons in castro. the flames broke out in the 2 unit building on clayton street. the fire appears to have ignited spontaneously in construction materials on a deck. nobody was hurt including a pregnant woman who was able to escape safely. doses of people -- dozens of people spent a chilly night camped out. they were trying to get their children a coveted spot in a
